Chorister Training Scholarship

Each year, Great St Mary's offers a scholarship worth £1,000 to an organist in full-time higher education or a gap year student who wants to learn more about training children to sing. 

The Chorister Training Scholarship offers ambitious young musicians the opportunity to gain practical experience of teaching children the rudiments of good vocal technique, music theory, and musicianship in a supportive and encouraging environment. 

 

Zane Soonawalla (left) is the Chorister Training Scholar for the academical year 2025-2026: 'The Chorister Training Scholarship has been an immensely valuable and fun experience. Teaching children and accompanying and conducting the choristers has given me the opportunity to develop my musical and teaching skills in a supportive environment.'
