Coming Up at Great St Mary's:

From 27 July to 31 August there is no public morning prayer at Great St Mary's; you are invited to pray during the summer using the Church of England Daily Prayer online.

Please note that from 10th August there is work ongoing to make the front pews moveable (to improve access for wheelchair users, and to create more space for concerts and events). The work is expected to be finished in the first week of September, and the church will remain open throughout. Thank you for your patience.

Events at Great St Mary's

We regularly hold concerts, educational events, talks, and exhibitions.

Are you a composer? Scan the QR code to enter our inaugural Carol Composing Competition (closing date 1st September). Scan the QR code to read the full rules and download the chosen text. The winning carol will be performed at the popular 'Carols by Candlelight' services on 20th December.

Come and celebrate the Patronal Festival of Great St Mary's! On 6th September we will be marking the patronal festival at 8am (Holy Communion), 10am (Choral Eucharist - also celebrating the return of our choir from their summer break), and 5pm (a special Come and Sing Evensong for advanced singers). To sign up to sing, scan the QR code on the poster.

Come along to Great St Mary's at 4pm on Sunday 4th October for a special service of Choral Evensong for creationtide hosted on behalf of Central Cambridge Ecumenical Network. The preacher is the Revd Dr Janet Tollington, on the theme of 'Living Water'. The service will be followed by refreshments and an informal discussion with the preacher.

While our own choirs are away on their summer break we are delighted to welcome choirs from across the world to come and sing at some of our services. The 'what's on' section at the top of this page provides all the details. If you're a singer, why not scan the QR code in the poster to sign up for the Come and Sing choir at the 10am Eucharist on 16th August?

Calling all advanced singers: our Patronal Festival Come and Sing Choral Evensong is on 6th September (3pm rehearsal, 5pm service, followed by fizz!). Music by Bruckner (Ave Maria), Mathias (Jesus College service), and Kathleen Allan (I syng of a Mayden). Sign up using the QR code on the poster.

The annual blessing of bicycles (and buggies, mobility scooters etc) and backpacks for the new school year takes place in the Great St Mary's Churchyard on Sunday 13th September at c.11.15am.

Bring your portable pets along to Great St Mary's at 2.30pm on Sunday 20th September for a special service of blessing.
