The University Church

The University Church since 1209

As the University of Cambridge's spiritual home since 1209, we provide pastoral care for all members of the University of Cambridge. Whether you are student or staff, a postdoc researcher, a prospective student or family member, or a resident of Cambridge — we are here for you. And we’d love to hear from you.

In addition to our general offerings, we provide regular events for students:

  • Join us Wednesdays in Term at 4pm for coffee and conversation at The Edge — held in Michaelhouse, our medieval chapel and café. (On Zoom during lockdown)

  • On Sundays join us at 8pm for HeartsEase, with the Cambridge Student Christian Movement. Learn more about this inclusive Christian community of students and young people in Cambridge at their website.

  • There's a 10% discount for University of Cambridge students at Michaelhouse.

  • Join us for our small group online Bible studies, including 'Read Mark Learn' on Thursday nights. Email us for more info!

And don’t forget to follow us on TwitterFacebook, or Instagram to get the latest news. And do sign up for our University Church listserve at this link.

Coffee and Conversation

University students are invited to come along for coffee and conversation at Michaelhouse Café, Wednesdays in Term at 4pm.

#Edge is a safe place for students to wrestle with the 'big' questions about God, and the 'little' questions about our lives. No pressure, and the coffee is on us.

University Sermons

Ancient Tradition, Modern Questions

A University of Cambridge tradition since at least 1300, the Sermons Before the University challenge us to consider faith more thoughtfully.

University Sermons have inspired the Reformation, the Abolitionist movement, and more.  Each year prominent women and men from many different traditions deliver Sermons on topics of particular interest to students.

Multifaith Chaplaincy at the University of Cambridge

People of all faiths and none, from all around the world, call Cambridge home. We work in partnership with many other faith groups. As the University Church, we contribute from our own Christian tradition and encourage the contribution of others.

Visit our Faith Support page (on our 'old' website) o find out about the many different faith communities who provide pastoral support at the University of Cambridge.
