Great St Mary's Music Patrons
The Gift of Music

Great St Mary's is a place where faith and the arts come together with extraordinary creativity in a culture that is distinctly Christian, fully inclusive, and aspires to excellence. We are a church that lives and breathes music, and our cherished choral tradition is at its heart. We invite you to become a Music Patron to continue to secure that tradition for future generations.

Great St Mary's has one of the largest Parish Church music programmes in the country, drawing in 100 children and 50 adults to sing as part of seven choirs for at least three fully choral services each week.

 

About the Music Patrons' scheme

 

The Music Patrons' scheme is a membership scheme that exists to help fund the Music Ministry at Great St Mary's. Running our music programme costs over £100,000 per year, and unlike many cathedrals, Great St Mary's receives no financial support from the central Church of England.

Music Patrons support areas such as:

​

  • Professional tuition for our Choristers and Youth Choir

  • The Assistant Director of Music's salary (covered in part by grants and sponsors)

  • Running costs of the Great St Mary's Junior Choir

  • Music scores

​

If you would like to support the work of the music department at Great St Mary's, we invite you to consider becoming a Music Patron. There is a membership option for everyone, depending on what you are able to give.
