Through the year
We hope that throughout the year, there will always be something in flower.
Then we, and the pollinating insects, can benefit from the flowers in the churchyard garden.
The Fritillaria 'Raddeana' bulb flowers in the spring.
Wild flowers bring colour to the summer.
A blue Salvia still in flower in the autumn.
A Hellebore fedidus is able to stay in flower all through winter.
Foliage
Enjoy all the foliage too - see how different leaves are from one another, in colour and shape and feel.
The soft small thin leaves of Rosemary are fragrant.

The dark thick and prickly leaves of Holly contrast with their bright red berries.

The enormous soft leaves of Senecio ‘Angel Wings’ almost feel as if they are furry.

Change over time
Much of our wonder at the world of plants is in how they change with time.
In Morning prayer, we say,
‘The night has passed and the day lies open before us.
As we rejoice in the gift of this new day, so may the light of your presence, O God, set our hearts on fire with love for you.’
The night, with its accompanying stars is (Magnolia Stellata) becomes dawn (brought to us by these gorgeous sunflowers in the 'dawn' section of the garden), with the promise and hope of a new day.
Tiny seeds grow into flowers and shrubs.
Dormant deciduous trees (including (our iconic cherry tree) come to life and burst into flower in spring.​
